Understanding Your Manus Billing: Subscription vs. WebDev Usage
Your Manus subscription primarily covers the credits you use while interacting with the Manus AI to build, research, and create. This includes activities like generating text, analyzing data, and using the various tools in the Manus environment.
Your WebDev usage balance, on the other hand, is a usage-based model that applies specifically to deployed web applications. When you publish a website or application using Manus WebDev, it runs on real-world cloud infrastructure, which incurs costs for hosting, databases, AI features, and API integrations. These costs are billed based on the actual consumption of these resources by your live application.
To put it simply, your subscription pays for the building process, while your WebDev usage balance pays for the running costs of your deployed application/website.
Billing Breakdown: Subscription vs. WebDev Usage
Billing Model | What It Covers | How It Works |
Manus Subscription | - Credits for interacting with the Manus AI | A recurring charge (monthly or annually) that provides a set amount of credits. |
WebDev Usage Balance | - Cloud hosting for your deployed application | A pay-as-you-go model where you are billed for the actual resources your live application consumes. |
What happens to my website if my Manus subscription ends?
Websites published on a Manus-provided domain (manus.space) can remain online without an active Manus subscription. Their running costs will continue to use the available free WebDev allowance or WebDev usage balance. If the available balance is exhausted, you’ll need to top up your WebDev usage balance to keep the website running.
Websites connected to a custom domain require an active Manus subscription. If your subscription ends, the custom-domain website will go offline.
Why is there a separate charge for WebDev usage?
Once your application is deployed, it moves from the development environment to a live production environment. This means it is accessible to the public and uses real server resources to operate. The usage-based model ensures that you only pay for what your application actually uses, making it a fair and scalable solution. As your application grows in popularity and usage, the costs will scale accordingly.
Check your website usage details
You may check which website each balance has been used for respectively under “Website usage & billing” in the “Usage” tab.
What should I do if I see a “permission_denied” error?
If someone sees [permission_denied] insufficient permissions to access this webdev when opening your website, check its Visibility settings in the Manus preview dashboard. You can grant access in either of the following ways.
Option 1: Keep the website private and invite specific users
Under Manage access in the Manus preview dashboard, select Only people invited under Visibility, add each blocked user’s exact Manus sign-in email address to the invite list and press Invite.
The email address must be the one the user uses to log in to Manus—not a different company email address.
Option 2: Allow anyone with the link to pass the Manus access check
Under Manage access in the Manus preview dashboard, Change Visibility from “Private · Only invited people can access” to “Anyone with the link.”
This removes only the Manus-level access restriction. Any login requirements and per-user data permissions configured within your website remain unchanged. No republishing is needed.
